neilius35 Posted April 28, 2015 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Doctor started me on Effexor XR 37.5 mg 8 days ago. I've been experiencing sort of a dizziness and head rush SE the last few days, it almost feels like my eyes are unable to focus. Is this a common side effect of Effexor? Cerberus Posted April 28, 2015 Share Posted April 28, 2015 neilius35- Effexor can have a number of side effects, most of them transitory as your system becomes accustomed to your new medication. I've taken Effexor for several years and occasional bouts of mild dizziness still hit me once in a while, mostly if I get off schedule with my meds. The things to remember are to try not to drive or operate heavy machinery or make decisions like whether to parachute out of an airplane or ask someone to marry you whilst thus affected. If the problem becomes seriously debilitating, you will want to let your prescribing doctor know right away, though at 37.5mg - the starter dose - you shouldn't experience that. hugbug Posted April 28, 2015 Share Posted April 28, 2015 I don't know about first off, but I'm actually having withdrawals from Effexor currently and I am having MAJOR dizziness and lightheadedness. That may or may not help but I hope in your case the side effect clears up. It's a pain having to do every day things when your head feels like that.
