KateBeckett
I had a sleep study done last night and I slept for about 8 hours. I wore a CPAP the entire time while they adjusted the pressure. I woke up this morning feeling somewhat dizzy and just kind of off. I got home and ended up conking out again for about 6 hours. I am not normally like this. If I sleep for 8-10 hours and wake up naturally, I will be fine throughout the day and not require a nap. Now it has been about 11 hours since I woke up from my "nap" and I have a headache and I'm super tired. Is there something with adjusting pressure settings that would make me this lethargic and wonky?
writehellarandomshiny
I've personally never been to a sleep study. It could just be your body adjusting to a new/different place-at least that was my first thought upon reading this. Others may have additional insights though. writehellarandomshiny
Also, is there any chance your body could've been adjusting to the CPAP?
Phoenix_Rising
I've had a sleep study and felt wonky the next day as well. Even though you got eight hours of sleep, you were still being monitored. And using a CPAP for the first time can be a difficult experience.
jt07
Here's how it was explained to me: If you have sleep apnea, it is often the case that you don't make into certain stages of sleep (REM?). That was shown to me on a print-out of my brain waves or something. With the CPAP, you finally do reach those stages, but you have such a sleep debt that your body just wants to keep on sleeping even when it is time to get up. So you get up and feel crappy. That continues even for the first week or two of wearing the CPAP until you repay some of that sleep debt. After that, you should feel much better than before the CPAP.
