confused
I was listening to talk radio this morning, Heidi and Frank. I have heard these two before and I know they try to be funny, but then why discuss serious topics? They were talking about OCD and having people call in. In between they were saying they were "weird" and more. They would ask the callers questions and then talk over them. They picked OCD but it could have been any number of disorders. jt07
I don't know how I feel about this. I'd have to hear it. If they were making fun of people who had OCD, then I would be offended. If they were making fun of OCD in general, then it probably wouldn't bother me. OCD is a disease I have; it is not who I am. So making fun of OCD would not be making fun of me. But then again, if they were doing it in a way that contributes to stigma, I'd be offended. That being said, I think the way OCD was portrayed in the TV show Monk was not good. More often than not, it was used for comic relief, but what was never shown was the actual suffering that people with OCD go through. Yet the media acted like Monk was a breakthrough show for people with OCD.
