jt07
I'm a bit embarrassed asking this question because I've been a member since like forever, but I've never embedded a video in a post before, and I want to now. What is the correct method to embed a Youtube video so that the video appears in the post and not just the url?
larkspur
I've never done it myself, but if you google bbcode (what this board uses) and "embed video", this is the first result: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=546007

What is the correct method to embed a Youtube video so that the video appears in the post and not just the url? Copy and paste the URL of the you tube you want into the box where you post, WITHOUT linking it. Then just hit "Post" ... 95% of the time the you tube video will come up. Sometimes though no matter what you do all you'll see as the link. Hope this helps!
iaawal
That's what I do (what Melissa said). I just copy and paste the link and hit post.

water
all you have to do is paste the url and it will embed the video If there are a lot of videos in a thread it might take a little while to render Make sure you paste the URL. NOT the YouTube share link. For example, same video pasted twice. This is the paste from the share link: https://youtu.be/e3Ci9ZDMXXc This is the paste from the browser bar URL link. I added a space the first time so you could see the difference. In the past you could use the share link but now now. You do NOT have to paste this into any codes, blocks, boxes. Just paste just like text. https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3Ci9ZDMXXc

water
Thanks, everyone, for the VERY helpful responses! I appreciate the know-how. It IS confusing. The Youtube link, which will NOT embed, always starts with //youtu.be The URL always starts with: //www.youtube.com will embed - https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3Ci9ZDMXXc will not embed - https: //youtu.be/e3Ci9ZDMXXc It is very important to know the difference, because..... it will change AGAIN! lol I have had to change the way I embed videos on crazyboards at least five times in the last five years. All of a sudden one day my video will just be a link and my ocd kicks in. So I sit and experiment until it works. heh.
