Revan
I am currently taking a tiny dose of paxil, which I am to work up to 20mg "as tolerated". Since I am hypersensitive to SSRI's , the 5mg after the first day felt as effective as perhaps a 0.5-1mg dose of clonazepam for the anxiety. Also , were trying this med in hopes of reducing some of the dependency on benzos/lower the effective doses. However this does not touch my depression. I am hoping it hits all 3 problems well (OCD, GAD and depression). I am a little concerned about the emotional numbing. I need QUITE the opposite in this case. Any experiences with OCD , GAD and depression on this med would be of help. ...Thanks! Edited May 22, 2015 by Revan
jt07
I found that Paxil numbed me as did most of the SSRIs.
dianthus
I also find SSRIs to be numbing (when they don't make me manic), and not really helpful with motivation and anhedonia. With that said, some people find that once the anxiety is taken away by an SSRI, motivation and joy come back. You really have to try it to see what happens. jt07
I'm moving this to antidepressants because, well, it's about antidepressants.

Revan
I found that Paxil numbed me as did most of the SSRIs. Do you find your citalopram numbing? What about the mirtazapine? Do any of your meds counteract this? My doctor has suggested Adderall for "focus", but I don't have ADD/ADHD (wondering if some of these stimulants can help depression?), I was worried about it increasing my anxiety though so I opted for something else.I have never tried a stimulant in my life.... just an Idea to bring to the doc... My doctor has suggested Adderall for "focus", but I don't have ADD/ADHD (wondering if some of these stimulants can help depression?), Yes, citalopram is VERY numbing to me; I don't find mirtazapine numbing. For me, Abilify specifically counteracts the numbing effects of the citalopram (with a little help from mirtazapine and Ritalin). Mainly Abilify. I don't know what to say about stims. I'm not really happy with Ritalin. I've taken Dexadrine (dexamphetamine) and didn't like it at all. The problem with stims is that if they work on me the let down is very rocky. When I say "if" they work for me, I mean they don't work for me on all days or at least don't work the same on all days. Some days I feel great and full of energy, some days I just feel wired, and some days I become lethargic and can actually sleep on them. If there is one med in my cocktail that I would give up, it would be the Ritalin. I just haven't found that stims are consistent in either energy or mood brightening. The certainly are not an answer for my depression.
