somecallmesixx
Does anyone have really bad stomach problems on Lexapro or its generic? I'm on the generic as its all my Medicaid will cover. My dad said it would give me really bad stomach issues...I had some before but now they're a little worse.
iaawal
When did you start it? I've never been on lexapro but with prozac I'd have issues on starting and on going up on the dose. I had diarrhea on viibryd the entire month I was on it. It might just be something that'll go away over time.

When I started Lex oh so many years ago, the stomach issue side effect went away. Recently I've been lowering my dosage and got some 5 mg. generic escitalopram. I was in the bathroom every day until I figured it out.
jt07
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of stomach issues are you having? Nausea? Acid refux? Heartburn? Nausea is rather common when starting Lexapro.
Gearhead
I've been on the generic for about six weeks now, and I've had loss of appetite, stomach aches, nausea, gas, and intestinal issues. Worse at 40 mgs than 20. So far not bad enough to be worth quitting the med.

It started with the generic. And I was ALREADY taking lexapro when the stomach issues started. For a week straight my stomach was screwed. I stopped the 5 mg. generic lex and my tummy calmed down. Gearhead
You know what? Don't even pay me any attention. I was thinking of Latuda. I barely even remember what the Lexapro did to my stomach when I was on that. Jesus fuck. I can't keep track of my meds.

Any SSRI can cause stomach problems, because of the high concentration of serotonin receptors in the gut. Nausea and diarrhea are just part of it. Usually they go away after a couple months on the medication. I was on generic Lexapro for years, and those side effects did eventually go away.
