3 a day and losing effectiveness

Recommended Posts

I take Paxil which is starting to lift the massive depression I have. I take 800mg of gabapentin for mood and anxiety and was taking klonopin twice daily and one more in case I needed it but the klonopin is losing its effectiveness. So what benzodiazepine should I choose. I hate xanax and I need something long lasting but valium seems to be to weak. Idk what to choose.

Have you tried Ativan?

Valium may be less potent than Klonopin, but that just means you need to take more milligrams to achieve the same effect. If you take the right dose, the effect should be similar.

No ativan cause it only lasts like four to six hours. I was on inderal but it only took my headaches away and lowered my bp. I know this is up to the doc. I'm looking into a long lasting benzodiazepine. Cause they are the only thing that work for my crushing anxiety.

I know you said you don't like Xanax, but have you considered Xanax XL? Personally Xanax is the only medication that will work for my anxiety.

^^ Not necessarily true.  I recently did a straight switch (dropped one, started the other) from the extended release version of alprazolam (Xanax) to clonazepam with zero problems.  The alprazolam SR did a good job til it pooped out on me, which is why I switched to clonazepam.  Don't rule out a med on the basis of what you might have heard about its discontinuation effects - you could be missing out on the one thing that kicks your anxiety to the curb.
