Britton
Hi all! I tried saphris last week and had the craziest dreams and nightmares and was up tossing and turning all night, so I stopped the med after one dose. I also suffer from derealization and noticed that the next day I was a little more detached than usual, but......my personality was back. I felt like I could socialize again and overall felt pretty good. I am currently impatient, but before I ask my doctor, I wanted to ask y"all if it is possible to split a 5 mg dissolve tab in half? I'm crazy sensitive to drugs and usually have to work my way up from a tiny dose of anything. I'd really like to try saphris again, but at a lower dose if possible Thanks! jt07
If you are inpatient, I'd ask the nurse who gives out the meds if you can split them.

netsavy006
According to the website for Saphris, they say you can't split, cut, or crush the tablets. Source: http://www.saphris.com/bipolar/treatment/how_to_take.aspx
lifequake
I used to split them in half or quarters and had no problem doing so. My pdoc approved, too.
Wonderful.Cheese
You should really ask the dr. And you really should give the meds a fair shot at working. It takes weeks for them to work.
Guest
You can split them however they absorb any atmospheric moisture and will become a pile of goo in a short space of time, which is probably why they say you can't do it. That and the dose will be somewhat inaccurate, ymmv.
melissaw72
Does your DR know you want to lower the dose? Does s/he say it is ok to split the pills?
