Arj72
Hi, so I'm still very early in my trial of Latuda (20mg/day for 4 doses so far). I've been feeling antsy in my pantsy which can be uncomfortable at times, also feeling tired and nauseated. All of which I expected to a certain extent. However, one thing is throwing me off. I've been having pains shooting up and down my arms and legs since the 2nd day on this medication. The pain is deep and feels like how your arm feels after a tetanus shot except it's all over the place. It's not constant, but it happens enough throughout the day for it to be a concern to me. Has anyone heard of this? Also, can I reasonably expect the restlessness (and other side effects) to abate after some time? How long? snarkygirl
Latuda gave me horrible akathisia but thankfully Cogentin helped. I also found Latuda kinda sedating within a few hours of taking it so I take it at night and go to sleep soon after. I feel fine by morning. It's not sedating for everyone though, and it can be a pain to eat required calories right before bed. I never had an issue with pain though. Maybe worth mentioning to your pdoc. It really can be a great med. I hope it works out for you.

Thanks... it's so bizarre, like a deep muscular pain. Could be completely unrelated. The anxiety I'm getting from the restlessness isn't helping my thought process though. I was hoping that I wouldn't need an anticholinergic so I could avoid the dry mouth issue (bad teeth), but I may have to just take something for now. carlossong
The doctor almost took me off Latuda due to Akathisia even with cogentin. After 4 months, I rarely get it anymore. I had to take 1.5mg of cogentin with it. I tried 6 different antipsychotics and Latuda is the best so far. I didn't gain any weight or maybe less than 2 pounds in 6 months. I heard some people tried Latuda but didn't work for them. They found something better. I guess each person is different. I wonder how much antipsychotics will improve in the next 50 years.
