puppiesgalore
Hi All! I've been diagnosed with Bipolar II & GAD for the past 4 years. I was put on seroquel right out of the gate and switched between different doses and to XR and back to just plain seroquel. I gained around 25-30 lbs in the course of a 6 month period. This was definitely due to the medication, being lethargic (due to my deep depression), and lack of exercise. I started working out 4 months ago. When I say exercise I mean HIIT training 5-6 times a week (burning 350-500 calories a work out) and eating 1250 calories a day. I got rid of all the junk in my diet, and focused heavily on fruits and veggies. Well I've lost some weight but it isn't a reflection of all the exercise/healthy eating I've been doing. I'm attributing this to the seroquel affecting my metabolism. So I'm getting weaned off seroquel and onto latuda. I'm nervous because I tried other meds (abilify, sapris, others ones I can't remember) and it caused extreme akathisia. When I say akathisia I mean I was brought to emerg numerous times because I was in so much pain. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't do anything. The restlessness made me obsessively watch time pass and I would get anxious because I felt like time was passing too slow. I was constantly waiting for something and I had no idea what it was. So needless to say, I've been on seroquel for all these years because I'm scared of experiencing akathisia again. My PDOC has suggested for the past year for me to try latuda. At the time I was so stable that I would say 'I don't care if I'm overweight. The medication is working and I'm happy'. Well now that's change. I'm annoyed that I've hit a brick wall and literally cannot lose any weight no matter what I do. I luckily have a prescription for ativan (which has been a god send - but honestly sometimes wasn't enough when I had akathisia). I'm just wondering - has anyone gone from seroquel to latuda? And if so, did you notice any weight loss?
snarkygirl
I'm blaming this on my topamax, but I can't remember for sure what I was on before Latuda. My brains so shot I can't remember breakfast, but I have lost weight on Latuda. I lost the most during the first six months or so then it leveled off. It wasn't a ton. Maybe 15lbs. It would probably be more if I ate better and exercised.
puppiesgalore
thank you! I've heard of weight loss, was just hoping no one had extreme weigh gain like seroquel. I have about 20-30 lbs to lose so I just want to be able to lose the weight.

larkspur
I was able to lose about 50lbs on Latuda, once I started paying attention to what I was eating.
