professional nut
Has anyone tried this supplement? I'm taking Profrontal as recommended by the company, which is 2g of NAC and Sarcosine split into morning and evening doses. I had a really good day yesterday so I thought it was working, but this morning has kind of sucked. It has been 1 week today. There is a decent amount of research out there giving Sarcosine praise, but I can't find much in the way of first hand accounts. Anyone know when I'll get the full benefit of this supplement? Did it help anyone with reducing positive symptoms?
Pamito
I tried NAC for a year and it didn't help at all.
Banana Smurf
I take NAC daily and sarcosine occasionally and used to take it regularly. I take the sarcosine for cognitive symptoms, and the NAC for obsessive tendencies. I find them both helpful, but often don't take the sarcosine unless I'm having an episode of brain fog because it is kind of expensive. I seem to have a fairly quick response to sarcosine with full benefits after a week or so. I take a fairly large amount of it when I take it, though, about 3 g twice a day. I don't know how quickly the NAC helped. I take 1.2 g twice a day. I am experiencing no psychotic symptoms, but I think that is due to the invega. professional nut
It has definitely helped with both positive and negative symptoms for me. I'm not in full remission (which 8 months, 4 antipsychotics, 2 mood stabilizers, and now 2 supplements after starting treatment, is still my goal) but I have to say this is the closest I've been. Since sarcosine works on a different system for psychosis than antipsychotics, I pray that this is the answer.
mellifluous
i've taken it for negative symptoms, not positive ones. i took it for several months. i don't know that it definitely reduced them, but it didn't exacerbate them. maybe they just started self resolving? or something else happened...i'm not great with exact time frames. i recall it helped some and i think that memory is real. it didn't do anything for positive symptoms of schizophrenia though. not. at. all. that i'm certain of. You can look it up, there are quite a few published articles showing it helps with positive symptoms. Not sure if you're trying to be negative on purpose, but I'm not interested in that. Not. At. All. Sorry it did nothing for your positive symptoms but that isn't the end all be all.
mellifluous
wasn't trying to be negative, just answered the question. it didn't do anything for my positive symptoms. that's all. glad it works for you or hope it does. wasn't trying to offend, but don't really see how you got so from what i wrote. that's my personal experience. too bad if you don't like it, but i said it helped half of my symptoms, that's certainly not a "negative", but think what you will.
