Terrorisums24
When I was a child, before my first dog Scooby died, I remember it being a good dog, but wasn't so good towards people who she didn't know. She bit one of my dad's friends on the arm and made it bleed bad, but he decided not to have it put down for my sake. I remember one night when I was sick, my mother had put her on the couch with me, and I remember her sleeping next me when I was coughing badly and she made me feel better. Dogs can be great family members or pets (if you're sticking with that term). I think the reason why they grow up to be monsters is either because they were raised wrong or because of mental illness that some dogs (varies breed-by-breed, some breeds for example are more prominently mentally ill, while others aren't very riddled to such disorders) may contract, if they're not seen by a pediatrician when they're still little to look for any organic brain problems when they start acting vicious. Dogs are just like some of us on here, we can be good at times, but when someone fucks with us, mistreats us or is an intruder to us, we get really defensive. Sometimes we might just go out of our minds and the violence comes out and you harm the people that love you the most. I consider myself strikingly similar to way some pitbulls are. larkspur
Pit bulls are great dogs. I have a pit/basset mix and she is absolutely precious.
Stickler
I love pits. That having been said I have a new scar from a puncture wound on my calf caused by a pit who chomped on me last year. I was out on the road, so the two pits ran out, and the one bit me. She dropped dead a few days later, or at least that's what the owner said, and he supposedly put the dog's body in the garbage. It may have been true, or convenient. Really glad I had my rabies shots already. I also note...this one neighbor has had a succession of chihuahuas. EVERY chihuahua they have owned has been a neurotic, vicious little dog. ...I suspect the owners have something to do with that. So perhaps dogs with jerky owners pick that up? cosima
pits are incredibly intelligent dogs and very sensitive to the environment around them. every pit i've met also has a ton of energy and is very loyal. with that said, with a bad owner or chronic mistreatment they can become especially lethal. on the other hand, with the right owner and loving care they can be especially loving, sweet, gentle dogs. they are also extremely protective. one of the pits i had was an absolute sweetheart in all ways and very loving with children. the only thing is that she could be a bit scary because she didn't understand that barreling towards someone at full speed because she was feeling friendly could scare people. however, i had no doubt that if she sensed that any of us were truly being physically harmed she would rip someone's face off. even when people were play fighting or wrestling, she would sometimes sit by and give a warning growl. with time, care, respect and love they are the best dogs you could possibly own. i truly believe that and i've been around a lot of other dog breeds as well. chihuahuas, for example, are just naturally vicious and ugly little fuckers. Gearhead
I've never had any problem with pit bulls, and have in fact known a couple who really thought that they were massive lap dogs. It's German Shepherds I don't like. I've yet to meet one who wasn't squirrelly, mean, or both. Got a nasty bite off of one once while I was trying to prevent her from killing my dog.
