anon0422
I've been struggling to figure out which of my SZA symptoms came first -- the psychosis or the mood. I experienced psychotic symptoms as young as 5, but my mom said I looked depressed as a baby.Which came first for you?
dazed and confused
I think the mood came first for me but I have been experiencing psychosis a lot longer than I originally thought. I was reminded of this by a friend who told me a few things that I did before I got the diagnosis i. e. That people on the TV were talking to me even though the TV wasn't on and hearing music coming from the fan so maybe the psychosis did come earlier, I don't know but it's been there for a long time. inked3
Im really not sure which came first for me, I can recall both even in childhood
melissaw72
I experienced mood symptoms a long time ago, before the SZA diagnosis. It was the psychosis that came a few years afterwards, and complemented the mood symptoms for my current diagnosis of SZA.

Bellatrix
Mood first, definitely, by a few years.I think I was pretty schizotypal from early on, though.

Wonderful.Cheese
For me, the mood came first for sure. The mood swings began when I was around 13. I had to be put on meds at 14. Then I was on and off of them for a decade. Now I know I can't be off of them or I'll end up IP again. The psychosis came later in my late teens/early twenties. Pele
Mood. There seems to be a link here. Someone investigate this!
saintalto
Mood. I seemed to be pretty classic bipolar at first, then my psychosis symptoms came, then they got progressively worse and I evidently no longer fit classic bipolar. Today I was re-diagnosed with schizoaffective and that was that.
