charlotteshead
Lamictal has been causing me to have the stupids, especially at work. I work retail and I handle cash every day as well as navigating some complicated returns and exchanges. I have been doing great in my job. My managers recently told me I'm their best cashier and their go-to for cash wrap. But the past couple weeks have been hard. I've been on Zyprexa the last week for hypomania and thats compounded with the lamictal to make me one big ball of stupid.I'm forgetting policies i know by the back of my hand. I can't make my sentences sound right, and I forget words. Not to mention that occasionally I open my mouth to say something like, hey how are you doing, and what comes out is 'het van van youuu' lolI can't stop either of these medications. Tips to cope? crtclms
Do they know you are bipolar? You could say you are adjusting to a new med, so you need a couple of weeks to get up to speed. If they don't know, is there some way to tell them you were put on a medication that will slow you down for a couple of weeks?Sorry I can't come up with a more discreet answer. dragonfly23
I can tell you for me it passed. But yes I had the stupids. I was never sure if it was seroquel or lamictal as I was titrating up on both. I basically told my co-workers that I had been prescribed a new med and it was taking me time to adjust. I lied however as it's not their business. I found stating its a new blood pressure med works or in my case I have had seizures and I say its a new drug my Neuro gave me. ( not quite a lie, its what he prescribed for my seizures).Good luck, its does pass however. From time to time I still have horrid word recall, I have no idea where my brain goes to get the words but quite obviously in the wrong work file. I just laugh it off. melissaw72
I agree with letting your boss/es know you are starting a new med and you will need time to adjust to it. And would they prefer you still to come to work until the side effects wear off, or would they prefer you take a medical leave of absence until you are up to par,
