pixiestarr
Dr started me on 150mg once a day to augment my brintellix. I've been on it nearly 2 weeks and the last 2 days I have had what might possibly be auditory hallucinations. The reason I say might is that it's so quiet. Like I'm not 100% that I heard something but I think I did. For example yesterday I was woke up by what I thought was a puppy wimpering outside. Once I was fully awake I no longer heard it. We live in the, sticks and I have found puppies before in the yard so,he not entirely out of the question. Then today several times I thought I heard the kids talking when they weren't, and I thought I heard my husband turn the tv on in the bedroom but he was asleep. It's so freaking quiet though it's hard to know for sure if I'm actually hearing something. Its hard to explain.Does this sound like legitAH? Should I call the Dr or wait and see how it goes? crtclms
For me, auditory hallucinations have always been REALLY APPARENT, as in loud. Which means nothing, that's just me.You are on a truly tiny amount of lithium. My guess is the lithium is not in play. BUT, it could be that lithium and brillintex don't always mix in the best way. But your pdoc would probably already know about an interaction.Again, I don't think it is the lithium. But I don't know enough about brillintex to give you some kind of conclusive answer. So if you feel like you need to ask your pdoc, do so. If it is a bad interaction, or if s/he thinks you are worsening, s/he'll want to know.Just so you know what I would do, I would wait. But I've been doing this over 25 years, I tend to roll with side effects, sometimes a little longer than I should.

Like I'm not 100% that I heard something but II'm really curious about this as I can't imagine that 150mg of lithium registers in the therapeutic range....is there a plan to increase the dose?I don't believe lithium has caused any auditory hallucinations for me. But as crtclms says, it's possible there's some strange drug interaction going on.

But I've been doing this over 25 years, I tend to roll with side effects, sometimes a little longer than I should. That's how many of my hallucinations are, but I sometimes get softer ones, usually music or tones. I also get hallucinations that are attached To white noise like fans or AC blowers, almost always music. They vary from soft to medium loud, and are always a lîttle fuzzy. For whatever reason, I almost always hallucinate music that I don't really care for. As for the lithium causing hallucinations, I dunno. I'm still trying to figure out if my psychotic episode last year was due to lexapro or not. I don't think I'll ever know. I'm not really willing to try it again to see, though, and I'm on Abilify now and that may be preventing some of them. My pdoc doesn't know either. Sometimes he seems to think it was med-induced, and other times he doesn't. In any case, I've had more hallucinations since that time than I had before it. Maybe the lexapro let the genie out of the bottle? Or maybe my MI has just worsened.
