Katzendame
Does anyone else get agitated from taking their anti psychotic? I always am but it's worse with the medication.
Southern Discomfort
It should have the opposite effect. I haven't had anything like that, mine keep my anxiety at back as well as depression, mostly, but that's about it. Is anything like that listed in the PIL? Mine doesn't. jt07
I think it's going to depend on the antipsychotic and on you yourself. Some people get paradoxical reactions to their meds. I have not been agitated on any antipsychotic, but I did get horrible anxiety from Ablify in the beginning.
melissaw72
No, I have not gotten agitated from being on anti-psychotics. But YMMV ... it is different for everyone.
crtclms
I got agitated on Geodon. I got manic on Abilify, but I don't know if that counts as just agitation.
Gearhead
I found Abilify very activative, Seroquel comfortably neutral, and Geodon impossibly sedating.
San
Some forms of restlessness is called akathasia (another side effect is EPS: extrapyramidal symptoms) and both include restless, sometimes agitation.. I get agitated when I'm restless. Its not too terribly uncommon. On a few of the newer atypical antipsychotics (they're all some form of aripiprazole) the most common side effect's are EPS and akathasia. Abilify gave me akathasia from hell. Inside and out. Like an "ants in your pants" type of feeling. This kind of thing is quite common. You can take meds like cogentin, artane, benadryl, beta-blockers, and so on, to help with it.
