Anyone find antipsychotics dont work as well the second time around?

Recommended Posts

I'm a little afraid I might have to go on clozaril long term because a few years back I tried risperdal for the second time and it just didnt work at all. That said I'm thinking about trying it again and if it doesn't work i'll just ask my doc to go on clozaril long term and just accept sleeping 16 hours a day.

Oh golly. I hope that's not the case for Zyprexa. It was a miracle worker in the past.

It seems to be a problem specific to Risperdal, or at least that's the only one that I've read about with this problem.

Regardless my low mood, I'm fighting hard to get back on an effective dose of quetiapine (I'm takin 25mg from 800mg). I have been doing since my doctor took me off my meds cold turkey back in february. The withdrawal effects are still effecting me. There is something that I can only describe as over-conciousness. I'm itchy and uncomfortable all day and I can't sit still all that in addition to my mood, I'll even buy quetiapine from a drug dealer if it may be.

Risperidone worked on my first psychosis about 8 years ago and I gave it a try this year for delusional thoughts/thinking, got to say, it wasn't exactly an acute episode and it was very spaced out time from the first to the second time, but it worked well and fast, It didn't sedate me as much as the most of APs and I could take it in a high effective dosage, 6mg/day and up.
