Not at different times, at the same time, because antipsychotics is used to manage both positive and negative symptoms.

Since you're worried about depression, maybe you're experiencing negative symptoms.

Negative symptoms: A lack of feelings or behaviors that are usually present,
such as:

  • Losing interest in everyday activities, like bathing, grooming, or getting dressed
  • Feeling out of touch with other people, family, or friends
  • Lack of feeling or emotion (apathy)
  • Having little emotion or inappropriate feelings in certain situations
  • Having less ability to experience pleasure

Generally speaking, you need to have psychosis to experience negative symptoms. My depression is very close to negative symptoms, but my doctors won't consider it as such since I've never had positive symptoms of psychosis.

I'm not sure whether the OP has psychosis or not.

Thank you both!

I sure don't feel psychotic, but I do have some of the negative symptoms listed above. They seem to be symptoms of depression in general, right? Anyway, what I am experiencing in that department is waning, I'm grateful to say.

It feels like I'm on the right meds, so methinks I need to keep striving and be patient. Pdoc says I can increase the lamotrigine to 200 mg if I need to in about a week and a half. I won't unless I really have to.
