Bueler
Hi,I was pretty depressed during summer break, so I started 40mg Celexa... I wasn't really depressed anymore after that, so that was good. But now that school has started up, I'm finding it harder to motivate myself and accomplish things. I'm considering lowering the dose of Celexa to help get rid of the "blah" no motivation effect, but I'm also worried my depression could come back and further cripple me. Any thoughts? xmo
I was just coming here to look for information on similar side-effects. I started on 40mg of Celexa and 10 mg of Abilify. We dropped the dose of Abilify because I thought it was turning me into a zombie. But even with the 40mg of Celexa I was getting depressed still, so pdoc raised it to 50mg.I feel somewhat like you do. No motivation to get anything done. I feel like an empty shell of what I used to be. For the longest time I thought it was the Abilify (which didn't make too much sense given I'd read so much about how it stimulates so many people, not zonk them out), but recently, especially after meeting a woman who said Celexa made her feel groggy, I began to think, maybe it's the Celexa, not the Abilify. Your post made me feel more confident that it probably is the Celexa causing this.I don't know when you see your doc again, but I see mine a week from Friday and I'm definitely bringing this to her attention. So I can kind of be a Guinea Pig for ya (if you like/if pdoc will change it) to see how lowering the Celexa affects me with regards to energy, motivation and depression. I mean, unless somebody else here has any information on the subject, which I would be interested to read as well.

xmo
So, I met with my pdoc on Friday and she, initially insisted that the blah feeling was from lack of activity (exercise), until I brought up that multiple people (not just you and me) have experienced this blah feeling while on Celexa. At that point she agreed that the medicine may in fact have something to do with it. But she was still hellbent on the exercise thing. (Even though I told her this blah feeling was what is keeping me from exercising.) So, she made me a deal. I could cut my pills when I decided to start exercising. Truthfully, I'll probably start cutting them a few days before to see if it helps any with the exercise. I'll keep you updated on my progress.p.s., in my previous post, I mistook my Celexa for my Trazodone. I'm only on40 mg of Celexa, not 50... but even so, I still get this blah feeling. So, when I start cutting, I'll be down to 20 mg. Sorry about that. But still... I'll report my results and let you know if I get rid of that blah feeling and/or if I relapse into depression or not.
