Rabbit37
Did some googling, and it sounds very much like I have Tendonitis on the top of my foot. Painful. The first line of action it seems is to take an anti-inflammatory. I'm on lithium, I can't. I've been icing it this weekend, several times a day, and it really does not seem to be helping. And of course pharmacy and pdoc is closed today.Does anyone have any suggestions, or know of an OTC I could take to help at least deal with the pain? Tylenol typically makes me nauseated, I really don't want to deal with that too. Thanks
melissaw72
I'm sorry you are in pain!FWIW, when I was on lithium I had no restriction on NSaids ... I know there are some restrictions, but my former pdoc didn't mind if I took them if I needed them. I never had a problem with the lithium or my blood levels.I also wanted to add my pdoc had me on a lower dose of lithium, with monthly blood checks of my levels. jarn
Following. I have something wrong with my big toe (and plantar fasciitis) and my pdoc/pharmacy says not to take NSAIDs on Li. Tylenol just isn't the same as Advil. Sigh.
in_media_res
Old-fashioned aspirin?Standard treatment for tendinitis is RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression (try an ACE or similar bandage, helps limit inflammation), and Elevation.Good luck. chem
Unfortunately, aspirin is also classed as an NSAID. Is there a nurse-line you can call? Some insurance companies have a number on the back of the card that you can call for minor health concerns after normal doctor's hours or on weekends. Or even a 24 hour chain pharmacy near you like CVS or Walgreen's? they might be able to help in the meantime
Rabbit37
Thanks, guys, sorry I didn't respond earlier (Sunday is grocery shopping day, ugh).Yes, I thought aspirin was an NSAID also, thanks for clarifying that chem. I'll try callig CVS and see what they say. I had to ask a question about generic mucinex d for my son last week, they didn't really inspire confidence in their knowledge tho. I really trust my pharmacist, plus he knows me well (family run pharmacy). If I call pdoc tomorrow, it'll be the evening til I hear back, unfortunately.I'll try the RICE for the rest of the day (or at least as much as I can). Thanks again. CirclesOfConfusion
A few months ago I had tendinitis in my shoulder and bicep. I saw my GP and physical therapist who put me on first RICE and ibuprofen, then some light physical therapy after that initial week of rest and care.Hopefully doing the RICE care you've already started will be a good head start on whatever the doc might recommend next?
