anon0422
So, on Clozaril, I drool a lot every night, and it doesn't get better even with Cogentin. Also, because of this drooling, I cough when I lay on my back. I've been trying to lay on my side or stomach and it's helping the coughing...but I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences the coughing at night that goes along with Clozaril. saintalto
Is Cogetin for salivation? I also wake up every night coughing because I sleep on my back and the spit collects in my throat and chokes me. They put me on something to reduce salivation at night, but it only lasts part of the night so I wake up choking/coughing anyway. My pdoc says it can eventually cause pneumonia if it goes unchecked, it might pay to let your pdoc know and leave a message with their office. What is the thing they put you on?
saintalto
Something called Buscopan, but it doesn't last through the night. Better than waking up periodically all night long, however.
melissaw72
I also had the drooling when I first started clozaril. Fortunately I slept on my stomach or side, and woke up frequently enough so I didn't experience the coughing/chocking. I hope you find something that works. I was on cogentin at the same time, but it wasn't for salivation; it was because I was developing parkinson's movements (or whatever they called it). The cogentin helped, the movements were gone and I went off of it.
