The Right Honourable Jimmy
Weirdly enough I feel more energized during the night. I'm more motivated to do things. The only thing that sends me to sleep is my medication however I sleep for 3-4 hours and I wake up. During the day I keep falling asleep. The problem is I'd rather sleep during the day and be awake at night but I have college. During the night, the only time that I could fall asleep is at the point where I'm doing something and I can't keep my eyes open. I do not have the patience to lay on my bed for half an hour till I fall asleep because during the night I'm motivated to do shit than during the day. I end up takin my pills later that I should because I want to stay up and I don't get to bed till 4 in the morning. then I have to wake up for college and at the start I feel rested but once I get out of the house and on the bus I'm so bloody tired. TakeAChillPill
Yeah me too. I get really bored and impatient for the night to be over because I get this burst of energy and don't have enough outlets for it. I tend to sleep a lot during the day too. saintalto
I was an night owl for most of my life going back to when I was little (stuffed a towel under the door to block light and stayed up all night until I left for school). It's easy to fall back into being up at night when my husband is away at Uni. Before I was married I woke up around 2 in the afternoon and went to bed around 6 or7 am. I prefer the night and early morning. Empty sidewalks and a dead silence apart from the ticking of a clock. I love the sound of old clocks in the night. jt07
You are by far not alone. I'm like this too. In fact, a lot of people are. The famous physicist Julian Schwinger refused to teach any classes or come in to work before 3:00 pm. I get a burst of energy around midnight and it's hard for me to get to sleep. I'm dead in the mornings though.
The Right Honourable Jimmy
They say that some people have different clocks however how am I supposed to do well at college if its not at night
jt07
I used to study at night and try to get as much sleep as I could. Yes, mornings were difficult and I tried to take late-morning and afternoon classes as much as I could. If I had to take an early morning class, I'd just had to adjust and try to get to sleep earlier. It wasn't easy, but I made it.
melissaw72
I love the night better than the day. I can think clearer, and know the phone will most likely not ring. I have peace and quiet. Mid-late AM's until about 1 PM are worst for me.
rowan77
I also love the night more than the day. Because I live in the country it is absolutely silent and so peaceful. I love to read, surf the net and enjoy the solitude. I even do some housework, do laundry and sort out paperwork etc. Definitely more motivated at night. Sorry, this should be written in past tense as unfortunately being up at night and sleeping in late was affecting my mood and I no longer stay up during the night. My pdoc said it was playing havoc with my normal sleep pattern and causing my mood to destable. So I started going to bed before 11pm. I am still very much drawn to being up and about during night as I genuinely like it better, feel happier and more relaxed and get a lot more done, but hey my mood is more stable this way....... Wonderful.Cheese
I used to be like that. I used to stay up all night and either sleep during the day a bit or no sleep at all. During my teenage years and twenties I was like this. Now my bedtime meds put me to sleep so I am asleep very early like 8-9 pm. And I get up around 7-8 am. I am a total morning person now. I don't know why I've changed like that. I think it may be the meds? But not sure.
melissaw72
Sorry ... I just posted on the double thread: I didn't realize there were 2 of them.
melissaw72
Here is what i wrote on the other thread that was locked: I feel same way as you about everything being better at night ... I can think better, get stuff done, etc. I used to sleep 1-2-3 hours at a time, with mainly the whole night open, sleeping mostly during the day. But I have been trying to change back to mostly night sleeping, even though I feel better at night. I'm doing this because I just can't function most of the day if I am up for the night, and then have to go out for the day. There has been more noise here during the day also, which prevents me from sleeping during the day. But I definitely know how the night is such a more valuable time for me than during the day. I just can't do it much anymore though.
wasps
i definitely like the night as well.. very peaceful. it feels like the night sky is covering me in a soft warm blanket or something. at night there's no talking and no one in my house is arguing.. i've been sleeping very poorly as well lately, although I end up passing out around 7-8 and waking up at the wee hours of the morning. my body doesn't like to sleep, it seems. all my classes lately have been VERY early morning classes which doesn't help at all. last term all my classes were later in the day so it gave me the chance to stay up all night and have those few hours of peace, then being able to sleep a little before classes started.
