TeaLovingMess
I'm on lexapro 10mg and I just want to stop taking it, I don't feel like it's doing anything, will it really matter if I just stop?
jt07
How long have you been on it?
chloesangel538
Hi foxy_jesus, It's never really a good idea to just stop ur meds cold turkey. U can go thru with drawn and feel so sick. You'll feel so much worse. If u want to stop the med with out seeing ur pdoc, which I really don't suggest. Slowly start lowering ur dose. If that means breaking the pills in half then do that whatever u have to to slowly go off of it. It will lower ur risk of withdrawl. Do like a week to 2 weeks of each lower dose depending on how long you've been on it and how u feel. I hope this helps. I've been a guinea pig for so long with so many meds I know the drill. But ur pdoc may be able to put u on something else as ur coming off lexapro to switch to that will also make it easier on u. Depends on ur pdoc and the way they handle things. Goodluck, take care. HopefulinWA
Also, 10 mg of lexapro isn't a huge dose. If it isn't working for you, tell your doctor that so you two can come up with a new plan.
saintalto
Usually if you ask your pdoc to stop a med they are pretty calm about it and open for either a replacement or even just stopping it without one. Nothing to be afraid of in asking and a lot to be afraid of in not asking. It doesn't take more than a phone call, just touch base with the pdoc before you act. Thank you all for your advice, I think I'll try calling my doctor and discuss it with him. Thank you all again
mcjimjam
It can take up to 2 months for Lexapro to start working so I would give it more time to see whether it will have any benefit. Edited January 11, 2016 by mcjimjam
