What happens when you don't eat with Latuda?

Recommended Posts

I'm fairly new to Latuda, about a month or so I've been on it. My pdoc really stressed that I need to consume 350 calories when I take my Latuda. That poses a problem now because finally after gaining 50 pounds, I'm doing something about it. The problem is there is no point in the day or night that I consume 350 calories at once. What happens if you don't eat when you take it? I'm assuming it'd probably make you nauseous, but I thought I'd ask people that have actually done it or been through it.

Yeah, it's an absorption issue.  You won't get a good dose if you don't eat the right number of calories with it.  It's something like 1/3 of the peak concentration without food, I think.

Your blood concentration of the medicine will be less than half of what it should/needs to be for the given dose you're taking. So if you're taking 40 mg without 350 calories, it's like effectively taking 20 mg. Perhaps try a meal replacement/protein shake that has enough calories?

You puke. Or at least that's what happened to me. I also never took it with 350 calories and it worked just fine for me. Usually just a yogurt would be enough to eat to not cause stomach upset. And I don't think it was less effective because of how I took it since I was stable for quite a few months while on it.
