Chrisja1987
I've read on the internet you shouldn't combine caffeine and seroquel. Not on a drug interaction checker but in forums and such. Does anybody know why this is? Is it dangerous? i asked a couple pharmacists they said 1 or 2 cups a day is ok. But I'm still seeing not to on the net. Someone even had said they saw on the seroquel website not to. The only thing I could see why not is that caffeine releases dopamine while seroquel I guess blocks it. So the caffeine might make the drug a little less effective? I'm just making a guess on that one. If that's all it is and it's not like combining the two will raise you blood pressure or give you a stroke/heart attack or sonething then I'll continue with my one to 2 cups a day. Any thoughts or expirences on this?
Wonderful.Cheese
I drink more than 2 cups/servings of caffeine. I take 800 mg seroquel xr. But I have sleep disorders that make me tired every second of the day too. I wouldn't function without caffeine in addition to the provigil I take. I've never heard of no caffeine with seroquel. But I'm no dr.
saintalto
I don't drink more than a cup in the morning because it makes me a bit jittery. I also take seroquel. One cup hasn't ever affected me unless I were to have it close to bedtime.

Yeah I can't see it being a problem either I'll just continue with my coffee as it helps with the seroquel sedation. 16 minutes ago, saintalto said: I don't drink more than a cup in the morning because it makes me a bit jittery. Yeah if I drink more then about 150mg which is like a McDonald's medium coffee I'm headed for a panic attack. It's to much for me. I get jittery to. There's a very fine line between just the right amount and to much for me. I also never drink any past like 12pm or it would mess up my sleep. It's not dangerous physically but prob not the best to drink 10 cups of coffee a day if your bipolar.
Wooster
Probably not. Caffeine is a stimulant. FWIW, I just checked the slurroquel patient and prescribing information and found no mention of caffeine. As in the word "caffeine" isn't even on the pages. tryp
I almost never drink coffee but I did from time to time when I was on Seroquel and it was never a problem except in the ways that caffeine is always a problem for me.
