I was talking with alice this morning about Wisdom Teeth.

I wanted to show you mine because I know that in the developed countries the dentists won't give you a chance to keep yours.

Anyways, here I present pain, disfigured smile and decay. Enjoy!

PS (I think they are cute, and Mr good guy would make for a very handsome pendant someday!)

yeesh.. wisdom teeth sure are freaky looking. probably because they pull out the entire goddamn part of it rather than just the root part that clamps onto wherever it clamps onto (I'm not that good with tooth anatomy, alright?)

I'm getting mine pulled sometime this year. all four, to be exact. the top two won't ever come down and the bottom two are gonna fuck up my lower jaw and cause abscesses... I can feel my lower left tooth pushing against my gums. it's ready to come out at any minute, I know it.

greetings from Canada! I wonder if they'll let me keep my wisdom teeth...

Screw's roots were part of my right maxillary sinus, so everytime I blowed my nose the snot went into my mouth, not out of my nose! How crazy is that? lol

I am glad you understand that removing those teeth is serious surgery, and prepare accordingly. Good luck with it!

yuck, it's weird how that can even happen with teeth... now I'm wondering if my upper wisdom teeth have anything to do with my sinus issues... my throat constantly runs backwards. there's so much phlegm in my throat at any given time, i'm clearing my throat pretty much constantly. we'll have to see once I get my wisdom teeth removed.

either way, thank you! I hope it'll be quick and fairly painless... aside from the fact that they'll probably have to cut into bone to get the top ones out.

Those are neat pictures of the teeth.  I never thought to ask for mine after they were pulled.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out awhile ago ...I might have even been in high school.  I can't remember.  Anyway, all four of mine were impacted, and I was put under general anesthesia so I didn't feel anything.  When I got home the pain wasn't too bad.  But the 2nd and 3rd day were hell.

AGREED! I had all four taken out at once and was put completely under for it. The next days were hell. Then I got dry sockets because I smoke, and it was just horrible. I'm glad I got it done young and over with. I was 18.

I asked and made sure my oral surgeon saved mine for me in a little packet after I had my wisdom teeth removed. But now I can't remember what I did with them (not really a designated place in the house for old teeth). So for now I look forward to randomly discovering them when I least expect it.

I forgot about the dry sockets!  I got one ... for me they took a small strip of (something ... looked like a kind of 'fabric', about an inch long), soaked it in a painkiller, and then used a tool to put it all in the hole where the tooth was removed.  It worked.

Yes but it was DISGUSTING! It tasted like cloves. The taste was sooo bad. And I had to keep getting them changed, and taking them out and putting them back in was also extremely painful. Not to mention I couldn't eat anything. And they gave me that horrible Percocet. Now I don't know if my body just cant handle it or if it was because I had to take it on an empty stomach, but it made me sooo sick. Throwing up after getting your wisdom teeth out=Hell.

I had mine removed about this time last year. The actual tooth removal wasn't too bad after the first week or so of healing...maybe two weeks...but the surgeon dislocated my jaw so badly (I have seriously bad TMJ) that I couldn't open my mouth all the way for well over a month, and it was over two months before I could eat normally again.

On the other hand, I got to keep the teeth, and one of them looks just like a dolphin's head if I stand it so that the roots are up.

Mine tasted like banana (the artificial kind).  Had the one that needed the strip of (whatever) taken out and replaced. I'm sorry you had to deal with the cloves taste.

My doctor won't give me any painkillers for my dry socket! But they did give me anti nausea for my aftercare from the extraction itself.
