2.5 weeks on Clonazepam - ok to quit cold turkey?

Recommended Posts

i've been on clonazepam for 2.5 weeks. if i stop taking them entirely (a dose of .5-2 per day), will i go through with physical withdrawal or is it too soon?*

*i know no one's a medical professional, etc.

I stopped the same dosage after 4 months cold turkey with no problems. I could do this because I have taken benzos for a short to medium (months) period in the past and stopped with no problem. There does seem to be some variation in some people's tendency to become dependent. I think is doubtful at 2.5 weeks you will experience physical withdrawal. People fear monger too much over benzos on the Internet.

thank you. i figured it would be ok but anxiety pushes me to seek reassurance anyway.

For me, I had a problem going cold turkey because I really need the med.  If you don't need the med and have only been on it for 2.5 weeks, I agree with others who posted above, that is most likely not be a problem.  But for those who are on the med for longer than the 2.5 weeks, it might be a different story going off of it.

Well, since it's up for debate.

Form my previously experience, I would say that withdrawal symptoms on this low dosage and on this short time if any would be minor to none.

if this is a circumstance where you come from no other benzo drug.

The scenario is different and should be taken in consideration if you were using other type of benzo.

thanks everyone for responding. i'm only on the meds in my sig and i've stopped taking the vyvanse so only zoloft.

melthe PDOC i'm assigned to doesn't respond to phone calls/faxes, etc. i think the general consensus is that i'll be ok. this paranoia stems from reading online about people's horror stories about the evil benzos:P

Well, I don't have any horror stories to tell you about benzos because I have never had a bad experience with them!

It is too bad your pdoc feels like 'you will be ok,' and doesn't call back.
