Hey everyone

Recommended Posts

Newbie here. I was diagnosed with Selective Mutism back in grade school, which evolved into social phobia as I got older. More recently, I was diagnosed with Schizo-Affective Disorder. I'm practically incapable of making and keeping friends, so my social life consists of my parents and my younger brother. If it wasn't for them, I'd probably become the crazy rat lady. Yes, I said rat lady. I love them and have two of my own. They're very underrated as pets.

I did something pretty unwise last year, and went off my meds. All of them cold turkey. I also stopped seeing my Psychiatrist. These stupid decisions resulted in the worst mental breakdown I've ever had, and I was nearly hospitalized. Long story short, I'm back on meds. Geodon is a lifesaver for me. I feel much better about life now. I'm starting group therapy soon, which I know I really need.

I do a lot of maladaptive daydreaming. It's my comfort zone. I have a hard time connecting emotionally with other people. I do get really attached to fictional characters though, and books, music and tv shows fuel my daydreaming. I'm obsessed with post-apocalyptic fiction.

Anyway, there's some info about me. :)

Wow... :ninja: OddOne.... we have very, very, similar backgrounds. Like doppelganger weird.

That being said, it's good to have you here and be assured that you are surrounded by like-minded people. Welcome to CB!

Hello and welcome to CB! I am a crazy cat lady also but love all animals. I've had friends who have kept rats and babysat for her sometimes. They were lovely (except I'm allergic to them, they make me sniff and sneeze and get itchy puffy eyes, but I didn't care cause baby sitting them was fun!).
