PDs Fading Over Time

My pdoc says that AsPD fades over time and usually, in your 40's, the PD will be pretty much gone. Firstly, my pdoc is an idiot so I don't know if this is true, secondly, has anyone else heard this about other PDs? Would be interested to find out if my life of being an ungovernable bastard has a sell-by date.

I've heard that. And apparently with a quick Google search that checks out with 'flamboyant' personality disorders like Antisocial.

I heard that the worst symptoms of AsPD and BPD will 'fade out' over time. However, with NPD I read that it usually gets worse because people they look up to go away/die, which leaves them being the superiour one.

My granddad had (diagnosed) AsPD...not sure.

Hi the hitcher, I had a PD NOS and I no longer have that diagnosis. I did 6 years of a combination of CBT, DBT and psychodynamic therapy. Sometimes I feel like I still have it though when I have bad experiences on social networks.

I think all of it goes away over time -- if you survive it, and live so long.
