Jean Valjean
Has anyone noticed whether using klonopin can aggravate IBS symptoms? If I have an extremely stressful week and I'm tossing back klonopin, I'm having to take laxatives to get back on track by the weekend. The problem wasn't this bad pre-klonopin. I don't think that for me the klonopin has aggravated the IBS. If anything I would think it calms down the IBS. I could be wrong though. I do find that when I am stressed out that the IBS could go either way (constipation or diarrhea). It is a good question to ask your pdoc though if things haven't resolved ... or maybe see a GI DR to help get the IBS under control. But IMO stress is a component that will trigger IBS problems. Jean Valjean
Whenever I have sought meds for it, the laxatives have odd side effects. Instead, I've resorted to a bottle of mag citrate at the end of a stressful week. You're right, I should probably talk to my pdoc about it. Alien Navel Cord
That is strange. I know anxiety has a head-gut relation, and you'd think the klonopin would actually ease the IBS not provoke it. You'll have to share with us after you see the doc.
