Hi

I stopped taking invega sustenna due to brutal side effects it has been 3 months since my last injection but my boobs are still leaking and I have lost my period. Has anyone else had a similar experience? If so when did it finally stop?  Wtf

High prolactin is common. I didn't have those side effects from Invega Sustenna, but I could hardly function on it.

Get to your primary care provider (PCP, or GP) or OB/GYN, they'll do a basic blood test for prolactin, and there are medications (like bromocriptine ) that can stop the side effects you're experiencing. Invega Sustenna takes 4-8 months to clear the system, which sucks. But there is a solution.

There are others, dopamine agonists, but that's the only one I can think of.

I second what @San said about the bromocriptine (Parlodel), and also would like to mention cabergoline (Dostinex) too. Supposedly any dopamine agonist will do (like pramipexole (Mirapex), ropinirole (Requip), or Neupro (rotigotine transdermal)), but they have more affinity for the D3 receptor than the D2 receptor, where as bromocriptine and cabergoline (especially cabergoline) has higher affinity for the D2 receptor, which is more desirable for controlling prolactin levels.

Thanks for your replies so if I go the natural route you think it could take 8 months to clear up?. I feel so grossed out and scared this has made me infertile. I am not taking any other meds I stopped the invega cold turkey as I was too scared about what was happening to my physical body

You are asking for a return of your psychiatric symptoms by stopping Invega cold turkey on your own without your doctors advice. Having intolerable side effects is certainly a reason to have a discussion with your doctor about switching to another med that does not have those side effects, but it is not a reason to stop a med cold turkey without your doctors advice. Please talk to your doctor and tell him/her that you stopped the Invega and why.

There is no effective natural route.

FWIW ... I was on a stomach med called Reglan where my prolactin was so high that I actually produced milk.

I know reglan isn't a psych med, but it is another med that might cause a prolactin level to get really high.

I agree with talking to your OB/GYN about it, and then go from there as to what s/he wants to do ... bloodwork  or whatever.
