Butterflykisses
The prolixin caused me to have terrible akathisia. Which is odd because it never did that to me before when I took it. Now I am back on 50mg AM, 100mg 2:00 in the afternoon, and 500mg at bedtime of Seroquel IR. Seroquel works pretty good for me. Any tips of how to get a med out of your system would be appreciated! I want the prolixin OUT because of this restlessness!

There isn't anything you can do until it wears off. I found that extremely frustrating. If you are taking the pill kind, Idk how long that would take to get out of your system. And don't know any way to make it happen faster (getting the prolixin out of your system).

I haven't taken any of it today (per instruction of my pdoc to discontinue it) and I am still feeling restless. I asked the pharmacist and she told me it should be out of my system within 24 hours from now. Hope she's right!
jt07
The half life for the pill form is 15 hours. It would be considered to be completely out of your system in 5 half-lives or 5 x 15 = 75 hours or a little over 3 days. If you have not been taking it very long, the time will be even less. In the meantime, you could call your doctor to get a prescription to treat the akathisia. There are good treatments for akathisia.
mellifluous
I was on depot and I hear you. Worst akathisia ever. I wanted to rip my skin off or unzip it and run out screaming. Plus I couldn't sit much less lie down. Horrible. I hope it's out of you by now. xx
