Thinking people are other people

Idk seeing someone and then discovering it was a different person

I sometimes start thinking people around me look familiar when in reality I haven't met them before.

Other times I don't recognize people I know if they are in a place that I don't associate them to be.

I can relate to this, particularly when I used to be really anxious about seeing anyone I recognised when out. On occasion I've spent hours avoiding someone out of that anxiety only to realise at the end of the day that's it's not even them, but a complete stranger.

I've done the same thing! Ill be on a bus and in the corner of my eye, see someone that I'm sure is a coworker or someone else I know. I get sort of anxious and try to look preoccupied like I didn't see the person, or look at my phone & hide. Once I get off the bus, I look back and realize that this person is a total stranger NOT the person i thought it was!!!

A long time ago I used to have this happen all of the time and would feel a bit of paranoia...it was getting to the point where I thought I recognised people everywhere i went. Total delusion....strange.
