Millie_O
Hi Kathryn, Yeah, I'm pretty sure hypnosis can help with motivation, insomnia, and racing thoughts. My husband is a hypnotherapist, believe it or not, and he helps people with this stuff all the time. Hypnosis is really about gaining access to your subconscious and reprogramming it. You don't ever lose control. You're awake and aware of the entire process. You determine what types of post-hypnotic suggestions (if any) you want to implant. I'll PM you his email if you want and you can ask him yourself. Lemme know. Millie PS - I think there are various forms of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to help deal with racing thoughts. Breathing exercises. Meditation. Etc. But I'm no expert.
Unregistered
I thought about this and most of the hypnotherapists I spoke to wouoldn't take me on. One said he had had a bipolar patient freak out on him and go into a psychotic state so bad he had to call 911.
Millie_O
That guy sounds like a jerk. A fearful, misinformed, unprofessional jerk, if you ask me. But you didn't, did you? Seriously, if you're interested in hypnosis, do some research on the web and call someone else. Maybe you could find a psychologist (or psychiatrist) who does it - that way they wouldn't be afraid you'd freak out and become psychotic. It's people like who give hypnosis a bad name.
