madmax15
Seroquel XR is the best drug I've been. The only problem is the sedation. I'm on 900mg. I take 400mg in the late afternoon and then 500mg before I go to bed. Has anyone here found a way to get passed the sedation during the day time so it's not so bad? MiaB
What time are you going to bed, and getting up in the morning? My bet is that it's the 500mg evening dose that's hitting you, and the later you take it, the harder you're going to find it to get moving the next day. I typically take my full dose no later than around 5pm, and get up at 6:30am for work. I'm on other sedating meds which I take at night too, but I find that a large mug of coffee will get me going. Is there a particular reason why you are taking the XR this way?

Wooster
How did your doctor prescribe it? The sedation does get better with time, but it takes up to several months for your body to adjust to it.

Saw doctor yesterday and said maybe taking the Immediate release at night might help?

Because it is the extended release formulation it is designed to be taken once a day. Evening/night time is best due to possible sedation. 10 minutes ago, madmax15 said: I've been on it for a few years now. Everybody is different but I found the immediate release MUCH more sedating than the XR
Wonderful.Cheese
I like Seroquel XR as well. It has really helped me and for me it has less side effects than the IR. I also take it early evening as per my Dr's orders. I take all 800 mg of it in the evening like Rowan does. And then in the morning I have some caffeine and that also helps. Butterflykisses
I take Seroquel IR 700mg. I take 100mg in the morning And 600mg at bedtime the sedation is heavy for about 2 hours. So if I wake up a few hours later the sedation is gone. I don't wake up with a hang over and actually wake up pretty early.
