Butterflykisses
My pdoc said my target dose is 200mg. I will be on that dose next week. She said if I ever need to increase we will have room to do so. So my question(s) is at what dose did you notice the most benefit from it? Did you work your way up to your target dose? Did you feel better before target dose or after? Add anything else! THANKS

melissaw72
Are you looking for a target dose for clozaril (in general) or a target dose for you? FWIW: This is the general targeting dose: https://www.drugs.com/dosage/clozaril.html Quote The starting dose is 12.5 mg once daily or twice daily. The total daily dose can be increased in increments of 25 mg to 50 mg per day, if well-tolerated, to achieve a target dose of 300 mg to 450 mg per day (administered in divided doses) by the end of 2 weeks. Subsequently, the dose can be increased once weekly or twice weekly, in increments of up to 100 mg. The maximum dose is 900 mg per day. For me, when I had to stop taking it I was over 200 ... around 350 mg or so. My pdoc was going to raise the dose, but the labs came back and I couldn't take it anymore. At the time all I had were the crappy side effects ... it didn't seem to be actually helping me (which was why pdoc planned to increased it). Idk what my target dose was at the time. We were still trying to find a dose that worked, and we didn't get to that level before I had to stop taking it. How does a pdoc know the target dose for a person, when the person hasn't reached it yet?
Iceberg
Good point. But at the same time I think it's good to have a point to level off and assess for a while

Although I see that might be hard to figure out at times. I guess DRs can set different target doses throughout treatment?
clinic
I take 275mg. I was stable on just 100mg for 2 years but then I relapsed and pdoc had to increase the dose. But according to stephen stahl usual dosage range is 300-450mg. [1] Maximum dose is 900mg [1] [1] https://www.amazon.com/Prescribers-Guide-Stahls-Essential-Psychopharmacology/dp/1107675022/ Edited March 7, 2017 by clinic

CeremonyNewOrder
I'm on 300mg. Too much more and I am too sedated to function.
Butterflykisses
thanks everyone. I start 200mg next week. This week I am on 100mg. The sedation is kicking my butt, the good news is my psychosis is getting better slow but steadily. I had a mini psychotic episode last night but it was short, and there happening fewer and far between. I am hoping 200mg does the trick, but I know if it doesn't pdoc will increase it.

Yeah, it's really rough, however, both meds have an important part in my treatment.
Iceberg
Could you try another aap that has similar properties but is less sedation? If that were me I'd not be able to get out of bed. Of course, if pdoc or you adamant abt seroquel....then that's not an option
