Beth
Seroquel is used off-label to treat alcoholism. We're not supposed to drink while on the drug, but some of us don't listen. Including me. So other than quitting alcohol because the label on the bottle tells you to, has Seroquel helped you to drink less? Does it just make you not want to drink or what? ZacharyOdette
Seroquel hasn't made me want to drink less that I've noticed. Topamax has on the other hand which I recently started taking with 400mg of Seroquel.
whatsgoingon
Since I've come off my meds, I'm definately drinking more then I was before. I seemed to only manage the odd glass of wine now and then when I was on meds. Whether that's the fault of the Seroquel or not is anyones guess. It's quite possible I'm attempting to self medicate, although my moods were wild when I was on meds.
Velvet Elvis
Didn't make any difference for me other than helping with hangovers. Tegretol has really helped me though. I've gone from at least a six pack a night to a twelve pack a week.
Miss Perfection
Hi Beth, I tried Seroquel for about 6 months. Never made me drink any less. In the first few weeks though, you have to be very careful with alcohol - I almost got comatized!! But my body adjusted itself and later on I could drink as usual. robotlove29
Umm I hope it's true that it's used off label for alcoholism. That would be freakin' sweet, cause I'm an alchy and it is really really hard for me to kick it......
invictus61101
I didn't crave alcohol at all while I was taking it, but now that I am off I crave vodka so bad. It makes my mouth water.
Beth
I find that I'm not craving alcohol either, at least not physically. I still want it out of habit, but I'm doing all I can to keep from buying it.
