Butterflykisses
Hi.. I am so worried my WBC went from 11 to 7.4 within one week. I did have bronchitis a week ago, does that explain it? Also my ANC went from 8 to 4... Was this sudden drop because of fighting off infection.. I dont want it to drop more, clozapine is so promising... Iceberg
7.4 is still normal...I would watch it but you may not need to call in the Calvary yet 4 anc is in range too The infection might have caused an abnormally high reading

jordansonfleek
Cloazpine can drop WBCs that's why the bloodwork is needed once a week

jt07
I was always under the impression that the WBC goes up when one is sick or infected. link

Yeah..but I am hoping that my blood test tomorrow is within normal range just like this past one was (7) and not high (10+) indicating infection and of course not below (4 which is a concern for agranulocytosis)

When I was on clozaril after about maybe a month or 2, my WBC went to 0.1 (WNL range for a woman is 3500-10,500 per microliter). This is why I had to stop the medication. http://www.healthline.com/health/wbc-count?m=0#Normalrange2 -------- http://www.namihelps.org/assets/PDFs/fact-sheets/Medications/Clozapine.pdf Quote What is the most important information I should know about Clozaril? Blood work to obtain a WBC count must be done before you start taking the medication, weekly for the first six months of treatment then every 2 weeks for the next 6 months.Thereafter, if blood counts have been acceptable, the WBC count can be done every 4 weeks. This is to watch for agranulocytosis, in which the WBC count drops and increases the risk of infection. This condition is rare but potentially fatal. I am one of the rare ones who this happened to. Fortunately going off of clozaril, my WBC eventually went back to normal. 1 hour ago, Butterflykisses said: Yeah..but I am hoping that my blood test tomorrow is within normal range just like this past one was (7) and not high (10+) indicating infection and of course not below (4 which is a concern for agranulocytosis) I hope your WBC count is within the normal range also! Butterflykisses
Blood count was 11, a little on the high side but for me that's normal. Even though it never dropped out of normal range I was still concerned, so YAY I can stay on Clozapine!. I think I might be out of the woods now that its been a month without having a low blood count... fingers crossed because this is turning out to be a miracle med for me...
