Kain
So I've been on citalopram for 4 years. Upped it to 40 maybe 9 days ago and if I don't even out it might be time to switch. My doctor suggested Prozac and I'm just a little worried about the switching process. This is the 4th time I've increased and 40 is as high as they let you go. I'm really hoping this increase works because I'm not excited about switching especially since I've been working steadily I don't want to take time out because of crazy side effects. jt07
The easiest way to do a lateral switch, i.e. switch from one SSRI to another SSRI without tapering down. Literally drop one and start another. You can also do a cross-taper but there you get into a problem with taking multiple SSRIs. I have switched from citalopram to Paxil without any problems. I have also switched from Paxil to Effexor (an SNRI) without any problems. This is what worked for me, but you should talk this over with your doctor. Kain
Ya my doctor wants to do a cross taper. Im kind of worried about serotonin syndrome but as long as I decrease one and start another I'm hoping there won't be to much problems.
