Sulli
I'm on disability for GAD, Major Depression, PTSD, mild Bipolar Disorder. Recently changed doctors, and in doing so, changed meds, which I've been taking for 2 weeks. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I went from Lexapro 20 mgs 1x, Lithium 300 mgs, 1x, Lamictal 200 mgs 2x, Klonopin 1 mg 3x. Now on Neurontin 100mgs 3x, Klonopin 1 mg 3x, Lamictal 200 mgs 2x, and Paxil 10 mgs, 2x. Feeling the dry mouth from the Paxil, lazy - but that's probably the depression - or I'm just lazy. Hoping change will make me want to leave my apartment more often as I seem to have gotten a bit agoraphobic. Also have fibromyalgia. Neurontin seems to help, but also have Tylenol #4, 3x as needed. Any thoughts on this combination? I'd love to have some feedback.
jt07
Sounds like a fairly normal cocktail to me. The important question is how it works for you. If you find anxiety is a problem for you, your doctor has plenty of room to take you up on the Paxil. I believe I was at one time taking 60 mg of Paxil. Iceberg
Seems pretty logical
Sulli
Thank you. The neurontin was puzzling, but I'm glad to give up the lithium. I was ok on it but I know it can wreak havoc with the liver.

jt07
Well, Neurontin is often used as a non-benzo med for anxiety so if you have a lot of anxiety then it makes sense. ETA: You should have no liver problems with Neurontin. It's not like Depakote or Tegretol. Edited March 28, 2017 by jt07
mikl_pls
Let me see if I got this right. Neurontin 100 mg 3x/day (300 mg/day) Klonopin 1 mg 3x/day (3 mg/day) Lamictal 200 mg 2x/day (400 mg/day) Paxil 10 mg 2x/day (20 mg/day) Tylenol #4 3x/day as needed Is that right? That seems like a logical combo for someone with GAD, major depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and fibromyalgia. You have room to go up on the Neurontin for sure, if you feel you need more relief from the fibromyalgia (the max dose is 3600 mg/day). I've read it's actually not a good idea for people with PTSD to have benzos prescribed to them, but if it's working for you, that's what's more important than what the textbooks say. That's quite a bit of Lamictal, but then again I was on that same amount at one point. Paxil is a good antidepressant for GAD, MDD, and PTSD. I'd like to point out that antidepressants like venlafaxine (Effexor), duloxetine (Cymbalta), and Savella (milnacipran) are used to treat fibromyalgia, and while all but Savella carry indications for MDD and GAD, they don't carry indications for PTSD. I've heard that Topamax can be used for PTSD nightmare prevention, along with prazosin, but I've also heard that Topamax isn't effective at all. Same for clonidine and guanfacine. Be super, super careful with those Tylenol #4's... they can be super addictive and before you know it you'll be taking 8 per day (worst case scenario!). I hope you get all the relief from your pains that you need!
jt07
I just noticed the Tylenol 4. As has been said, be VERY careful with it. It is addictive and if you take too much Tylenol your liver will be shot. It's not a med to play around with. Neurontin, on the other hand, is not metabolized by the liver and is useful for both anxiety and pain,
