Nikkyuze
I have been diagnosed with depression since I was a little kid (6). I was also diagnosis bipolar but my recent pdoc changed that to ADHD. I have taken just about every antidepressants, mood stabilizer and several antipsychotics and none seem to do anything. I'm currently on Prozac 25 mg and foclain 20mg er and 5mg ir. I am still depressed, severely apathetic and still self mutilate. I have taken the following drugs and they either didn't work or the side effects were to bad seroquel (extremely tired), lithium( no emotions at all), Zoloft (severe shaking and anxiety) lamictal, serzone, Paxil, lexapro, pamlor, Effexor, no improvement wellbutrin can't remember i also have chronic migraine and have taken topamax but the side effects were bad so we switched to Zonegran. I want to feel better I'm tired of being tired and depressed has anyone had any experience with hard to treat depression with ADHD that doesn't make you sleep all day or feel completely apathetic? mcjimjam
You might ask about a MAOI. There's one called Parnate that I have heard is more activating rather than having sedative side-effects. Some believe this type of med to be more effective than the newer ADs. Did Seroquel help at all? Some manage to avoid the sedation by changing when they take it or switching to the long release version. I found the sedation passes ask my body adjusts to it, but this took quite some time (months). Abilify might be an option. I haven't taken it but it is not sedating, from what I hear. Rexulti is another med extremely similar to Abilify.
Nikkyuze
I don't remember if seroquel worked or not all I did was sleep. I took it for almost a year. It was so bad I couldn't function at all the next day and I had to go to bed and take it that's how quick it knocked me out. I've never tried any MAOIs because they interact with everything but I'll look into them. Edited April 14, 2017 by Nikkyuze
