Has anyone had any experience with Celexa, Wellbutrin and Lamictal combo? I was on 300 mg of Lamictal up until a month ago when my pdoc added 20 mg of Celexa to help my depression. Yesterday (a month later) he added 150mg of Wellbutrin XL to help counteract the sexual side effects of the Celexa. Has this combo worked for anyone?

I've taken that combo before. I don't have much to say about it because Wellbutrin never worked very well for  me. It helps a lot of people though so I think it is worth a shot. Not sure if it really offsets sexual side effects though.

:( Total bummer. It didn't work for me the first round either but I wasn't on Celexa at the same time. Time will tell I guess. Thank you for your feedback.

With regard to sexual side effects, I found Remeron (mirtazapine) to be better for that problem than Wellbutrin and Abilify really helps also. Celexa is a tough med in that department though. The only downsides with Remeron are that it is VERY sedating at first and it also increases your appetite.

You should not expect much antidepressant activity from Wellbutrin if you are on just 150 mg. The therapeutic dose is 300 mg for most people.

I was on this combo a short time. Wellbutrin does absolutely nothing for me, even up to 400mg (by itself or in combo with other stuff). Celexa definitely helped with anxiety, but it made me increasingly lethargic/listless with sexual dysfunction so I went off that. I've heard many ppl have good luck with welly though, so maybe you'll be one of those lucky people!

This is exactly how Celexa affects me, but I choose to stay on it because I've found nothing better for my anxiety short of benzos. But yeah, I get the apathy/lethargy too and sexual side effects. Abilify has helped immensely with the apathy and with libido. Remeron has helped with other sexual dysfunction.

I want to be clear and say that I don't take Abilify and Remeron merely to offset side effects. Abilfy has been great for my depression and Remeron works well with the Celexa against my anxiety. I've just been lucky that they also offset side effects.

Do you know why the dr gave you an SSRI and an SNRI? Just curious... aside from counteracting sexual side effects, Wellbutrin on it's own is an anti depressant...

Wellbutrin is actually an NDRI, norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor. It is often given with an SSRI as it hits the two other neurotransmitters that are thought to be most important for an AD to target. A TCA or MAOI targets all three, IIRC. The combo is often used when an SSRI or Wellbutrin are only partially effective on their own.
