quiet storm
Hi all, I started lamictal 5 1/2 weeks ago doing the normal titration. I've been on 100mg for a week and a half now. Everything had actually been really great. I feel better with each dose increase. Not really any side effects that I've noticed up until yesterday when some itching started. Not really confined to any area of my body. Just kind of all over. It's not like my whole body at once. Like my arm will itch. Or my leg. Or my head. I wouldn't describe as intense but enough to where you want to scratch it. I would deal with it but the bummer is it really interrupted my sleep last night as I kept on having to scratch myself so I'm pretty wore out today. I see that pruritus is a side effect. My question is for anyone who might've had this as well is does it go away? If so long how did it take to resolve for you? I talked to my psych doc. She gave me the option of going back down to 50mg for a while or just stopping. I really don't want to stop as I am seeing a benefit. Do you think it would be a good option to just go back down to 50mg for a bit and maybe try going back up again? Of course the rash is always in your mind and don't want this to be a prelude to something more serious. I haven't noticed any rashes. I suppose I could do Benadryl if I wanted to just try and get thru it but I really hate the way it makes me feel the next day. Just a drug hangover. Any thoughts would be appreciated! quiet storm
So I went back down to 50mg on Saturday and the itching eased off. But it started back up again yesterday. Slept like crap last night again because I'm itchy and uncomfortable. It's like I got wool clothing on everywhere. I have a regular follow up appt tomorrow and I think I'm going to just ask to stop for now and try something else. Really bummed because I felt like it was really working, especially at 100mg. Weird how I didn't get it working up to 100mg, but now it seems to be sticking around after even lowering the dose. I suppose I could just try Benadryl at night and see if it just goes away with time but the remeron(which is already a strong antihistamine, I wonder how bad the itching would be if I wasn't on that) makes it hard to get up sometimes as it is. She also mentioned trileptal when we talked about lamictal. Seems like one that has a pretty good rep. The possible hyponatremia side effect worries me a little though. I do a lot of jogging and sweat a lot.
crtclms
My husband is on Tri-leptal, and goes out of his way to salt things. His levels are usually okay.
Cyclingsarah
I had itching initially. I does go away :-) stick to it. And if it helps increase by 12.5 mg at a time.
