Schizoaffective chain-smoker sayin' hi!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I don't know what to say really.

I smoke up to 30g = a pack of rolling tobacco PER DAY

& have lost a lot of interest in social activities as a result, like going to a concert, movie or art openings. (my last concert I've been to was in like 2016 and I would've preferred checking into a psychiatry instead at that point).

I've been in roughly 10 clinics in the last 5 years and study ART. But I SUCK at it.

My diagnosis is schozoaffective disorder with the schizophrenic part being stronger.

At the moment, my biggest symptom is lazyness & derealization.

I've pretty much lost hope that everything will work out someday.

Ciao, J

Hi Janis!

Former chain smoker here.  Up to three packs a day at on time.  Now I hardly ever even take a drag unless I'm at a party and I bum one.  I found out by quitting that I was not even physically addicted.

Schizoafective Dx Here as well- at least my former Dr thought so.  My Dr now who I've been a patient of for several years might have a different one but I don't care about labels so I dont inquire.

Ive been basically in remission for years and am 37.  I take Abilify and Prozac though.

Its nice to meet you.

Hi TakeAChillPill, how did you succeed in quitting smoking? And how long have you been in remission?

With me it's probably not the physical addiction as well - nicotine patches didn't help at all!

I also smoke the same (one after the other) even if I smoke stronger tobacco.

I have about zero clue how to quit.

Thanks for writing, you two.

Hi Janis,

I tried quitting with the patch and gum and they didn't help me. However, Chantix worked and I have been a non-smoker for about three years now. I personally feel like doctors should more aggressively prescribe it. I guess it can cause  depression and agitation in some who take it.
