Wonderful.Cheese
Around every 10-15 mins this adware or malware or whatever you call it pops up and takes over my screen on CB. It happens only when I browse CB. Not on any other site I go to such as knitting websites. Why won't this go away? What is wrong with CB? This has never happened before. Please remove this somehow. Sometimes it says I've won a $1000 gift card and to click on it. It happens on my phone and on my Kindle.
deeschmee
That was happening to me too earlier on my phone. I thought I had a virus
notloki
It is a hoax trying to get you to download malware. It resides on your phone. Don't download the app as it asks you to do, that will infect you even more.

Last time this issue was brought up, a lot of other people had the issue. I've scanned for malware and have none.
Geek
Cheese, this is not likely an ad from CB, it is adware/malware on your phone/kindle. Fortunately you figured out that it is malicious! It may have been downloaded in a software bundle. Fortunately it's pretty easy to fix. See if you can follow the instructions here on how to remove the malware from your devices. https://forums.androidcentral.com/ambassador-guides-tips-how-tos/630081-guide-malware-adware-popup-removal.html This article can tell you more about it too. Note that not all malware/adware/virus scanners identify this as an issue. https://appuals.com/fix-system-heavily-damaged-four-virus/

I read the articles you shared with me and tried the easiest solution and it seems to have worked! *knocks on wood* I've been browsing for a while now and no ads have popped up! Yay! I cleared out all the browser "stuff" (don't you just love my technical language? ) and that seems to have done the trick. I'll do the same to my phone. So to everyone who is having this issue I suggest reading the articles geek has so kindly shared and following the steps and trying one of the solutions offered in the articles. If it comes back I will just repeat that clearing out step. Cool! Thanks again geek!

Chantho
Okay. Sorry for being a crab. It was just weird to me that it was only this and one or two other sites. I dunno.

Chantho
Naturally, the popups didn't appear when I went back and browsed for awhile, so I don't know if removing apps helped or not, but it may have. I just got rid of the ones I rarely use that aren't from super trusted companies and such. They all came from the Play store, so that stinks. I always thought you were safe if you downloaded only from there. I really, really hate scammers. Again, I am sorry for being crabby about it. I'm not in a normal state right now.
