So I've taken Rexulti for 2 days, and both days I woke up in the middle of the night.  So my questions are:

1:  I read that taking it in the morning could help, but the half life is 91 hours, so I'm not sure how much difference this would make.  How much does this actually help?

2:  Does it go away on its own as your body acclimates to the drug?

3:  Is there anything else I can do to help it?

4:  Should I stop taking it?

YMMV on that though. I started Rexulti at 0.5mg in the morning and found it to be sedating 2-4 hours after taking it but simultaneously subtly stimulating. Worked almost synergistically with the Vyvanse. It was weird. Moving to evening time resolved the daytime cognitive issues for the most part but I was having trouble adjusting to it so we dropped to 0.25mg. About 1-2 weeks after that everything smoothed out. But I still take it at night and consider it to be sedating. I'm also taking it with Depakote though so that may be helping me sleep if the Rexulti is causing any disturbances.

Yeah I should mention tho that I was also on adderall at the time so my data is skewed. I was the first patient on it for my pdoc so the dosing was basically experimental... I've certainly heard of people like browri who have the opposite effects. I think that's been a tricky part of the newest aaps like. Vraylar and rexulti...the effect as far as activation/sedation

Yeah and me taking Vyvanse in the morning certainly helps to "right" my sleep cycle so that could be helping me sleep at night in a sense.

@catotheyounger what dose are you taking?

I got one of those sample packs that's 0.5 for a week, then 1.

Then I would say give your doctor a call and ask if you can try the 0.25mg. That made all the difference for me. I think I'm going to try going back up to 0.5mg here in a few weeks because I've been noticing a mood shift lately that I want to stay on top of, but my experience was that Rexulti took a long time to adjust to, and if you really stuck with it that it was totally worth it. But I didn't feel that way until after I had been on 0.25mg for like 2 weeks.

that's how I started too (for BP Depression) "Supposedly" the target dose is 2 mgs for depression (medscape) but why take that if you don't need it...so maybe .25 would be worth a shot if .5 is too activating Of course that's ur pdocs call as to whether the cost will eventually be outweighed by the benefits
