Experiences with nortryptiline(Pamelor)

Recommended Posts

ANyone ever take?

HOw sedating is it?

Doe it get activating at all?

I have heard weight gain and weight neutral? Seems it increase appetite, so if you can control that, the weight likely wont come, can change metabolism, but far less likely

Did it work?

Ive scoured over lots of posts from prior, but hard to condense the info for me

I took it ages ago.

I can't attest to how sedating it is, because I was taking it with something notorious for sedation at the time.

It worked fine for me when I took it.

It tends to not be prescribed as often now because other classes of medications are less toxic in an overdose situation.

I took nortriptyline a while back. I took it at 50 mg, but kinda tried it up to 150 mg on my own (I know, bad patient) because 50 mg wasn't working, and it wasn't until 150 mg did I start to feel something. I didn't experience any weight gain or anything. No help with sleep or anything either.

anyone else with tricyclics

I'm currently on 100 mg of imipramine (Tofranil) because nothing else has worked for me. The main side effect I'm getting right now is dizziness when I stand up, but it's tolerable. I can't tell if it's going to work yet. I'll probably need to get to 150-200 mg to find out. I have noticed a subtle difference over the past few days though. My doctor says he has other treatment-resistant patients who have done well on imipramine so I'm hoping I get the same benefits.

I took it when I got with my old doctors, who were also older than dirt. I'm told that it's a pretty old drug for depression, and it didn't do a whole hell of a lot for me. I'm on Zoloft now, actually, and it's worked for me when I took it like I should. I don't recall the Nort. being sedating, maybe mild weight gain. I've always been heavy, though, so it's a bit hard to tell actually. I hope you find something that works for you.

It caused  strange effects for me,  little sedation, but also way too activating. Was edgy on it. My dose was 100mg. Summary didn't feel positive effects on it.

I took it for a while way back when. Dosages ranged from 50-150mg but mostly 100mg. I found it to be activating so I took it in the morning. But plenty of people find it sedating and take it at night. I found it to be pretty similar to Cymbalta. Which make sense, they both hit norepinephrine pretty hard. Activating and sweaty. Had terrible night sweats on both. But not a bad experience overall.
