Alexander search
every SSri and SNri I try gives me Paresthesia (itching and heat prickles) every time I get hot or flustered. Has anyone had this before and got any ideas of how to deal with it? Piriton and Loratadine only offer mild relief
Stacia
Which antidepressants have you tried? My offhand thought is to wonder if you are having an allergic reaction. If that is it, trying a different class of med might be the next step.
Alexander search
All of them except Luvox. I've been on them for 20 years, but oddly it only started a year ago when I switched to sertraline. Same with citalopram and then fluoxetine (which I'd been on for years but stopped 5 years ago after it stopped working.)So recently tried duloxetine again ,same result. Now I've just started Effexor & it's the same. Psych has proposed Clomipramine but I'm scared of weight gain & drowsiness,
Stacia
Maybe an antipsychotic that works for MDD like Abilify?
Alexander search
yeah I did wonder bout that. Scared of weight gain tho. Perhaps I shud just try it & see anyway
dancesintherain
Have you tried any of the tricyclics? Amitryptaline and nortryptaline come to mind. I’d probably look for a different way to treat the depression rather than a different way to handle the itchiness, unless there aren’t other options. Alexander search
Thanks for the replies. My current meds on top of the Effexor are Pregabalin and Diazepam. Also Ranitidine and Nifedipine (for Raynauds) and Cyclizine. According to my doc, some of these meds clash with tricyclics so I may have to have a change around or just put up with it. Thanks again all
BrianOCD
Ya I've noticed that side effect with Effexor, more so when I'm withdrawing from it... Is that the worst side effect you've got? I'd say you're lucky.
Alexander search
Yes I know what you mean. Ive been living with the joys of SSRi ans SNRi side effects for 20 years but for some reason this one became really difficult after a year or so of it.
