BrianOCD
I just want to say to be careful to everyone driving when on benzos... I take 1mg ativan at night. I blew out my tire today hitting a curb....I drive for a living so I'm a pretty solid driver usually, while you might not think it's fair to blame benzo, this has happened to me 5 times in the last decade, and 4 times I was taking Ativan, one time I was not...I do feel like it slows reaction time a bit and judgement even into the next day. I just want to tell people to be extra vigilant and careful if they have to drive a car cause I've felt some slow responses when on Ativan. Dirty hands and cuts now cause i had to change tire... Juniper29
I won't take Ativan if I know I have to drive somewhere. I can tell it slows down my reaction time.
kittyloaf
I only drive after taking Ativan if I absolutely have to...luckily it's at night when I take it and I rarely have to drive afterwards. On a side note brianOCD, how can you drive for a living while taking benzos? I tried getting a driving job but couldn't pass the DOT physical due to taking benzos and antipsychotics. I was told by the DOT doctor that "people who take benzos should be precluded from driving" although my state doesn't ask about them when getting my license renewed. Well I've been taking them after I was hired, but generally I do just fine providing I take them at night...I live in Texas and I don't think there's any laws or regulations against it...far as I know. Obviously any sedative is dangerous when it comes to driving...but with benzos can be worse cause you also feel like you can do whatever... I'm usually off and on, take em for a month then I stop. I try hard to get off them soon, but sometimes I have to the anxiety so bad... Edited March 16, 2018 by BrianOCD

I don't like taking them either, I've been hoping Buspar would help me but it takes a long time to work.
notloki
I don't think it is different in Texas. You can get a DUI even if the med was prescribed if your driving indicated impairment.

Rabbit37
Notloki, jt, ^^ same here. Recent local story of someone getting a dui for prescribed meds. It does make sense, if you’re impaired, you’re impaired, regardless of substance.
BrianOCD
On the plus side of things, my busted tire turned into me getting 2 free tires since it was under warranty

BrianOCD
I really want to stop taking any sedatives at night because for me, I feel like the evenings the next day there's always a lil rebound happening....Don't know if that happens with everyone else, but it becomes annoying. That's why my dosages are low now.
