coraline
I searched here to see if I could find this topic but found nothing.. I'm on my 3rd week of the lowest dose.. It's not helping my depression but I'm getting the strangest dreams and I usually don't dream at all.. Is this a side effect or am I going crazier?.. For example..I dreamed that I was hacking my brothers bank account and he was angry and I couldn't stop crying.. I texted him to make sure it wasn't true.. Last night I dreamed that my pdoc was doing equations to figure out how to fix me while I tried to shower a horse.. Stuff is starting to freak me out.. Also all I do is sleep..I hide from the world and am barely functioning.. I've never been this depressed that I can remember..
Dr. Marshall
As far as I know many people have weird and vivid dreams when on different meds, including me, but if they're getting unbearable for you it's better to ask your pdoc about it maybe it will pass in time, hope you'll get better. jt07
This is quite common on Wellbutrin. I had some really strange and vivid dreams when I began taking it. I believe that those dreams will diminish over time. Edited April 1, 2018 by jt07
Gearhead
Messed up dreams are a common side effect of any SSRI. You are definitely not going crazier. I’ve recently started Viibryd and the dreams are driving me bonkers. I’m having trouble telling what I did in my dreams and what I did in real life. It’s pissing me off double four-time, but I suspect, from previous experience with the meds, that it’ll improve after a while.

Gearhead
Yes, I do. It’s avoided the side effects I truly hate with SSRIs, namely weight gain and libido death.

argh
Yeah. Happened to me too. Seems to be a common startup effect. Goes away eventually. Stick with it. The mirtazapine dreams were and still are, even worse and more vivid.
coraline
Hopefully it does go away soon since I sleep so much.. I'm not sure if I want to continue taking this.. It's making me feel like I'm losing it..
Velvet Elvis
One time I dreamed kittens were spawning from larvae under my skin as I flew over the city.

The thing is..I'm still severely depressed.. I'm barely functioning..can't do anything for myself.. I'm scared to increase the dose.. I have problems thinking my meds are poison.. I see pdoc on the 12th and don't know what to do..

This sounds like an emergency.

Wellbutrin often doesn't work until you've been on 300 mg for up to six weeks so you can't really expect your depression to lift yet unless you have been on 300 mg for a while. Nervousness, irritability and anxiety are start-up effects for Wellbutrin that generally ease up with time. One final note: Wellbutrin is not poison. It helps many, many people.
